Shaw Video Works, offers an exciting opportunity for creativity and a chance to enhance your skills in the field of video.

We are looking for an experienced Cinematographer/Editor to join our team in creating high-end videos for the editorial, advertising, and marketing ends of our company. The ideal candidate has a strong background in storytelling and a keen documentary sense. Our Cinematographer/Editors have business acumen and technical know-how, which enables them to collaborate effectively with internal creative teams and our corporate clients.

In this role, you will:

Build concepts and interview questions based on research of customers, news subjects, and/or products. Travel to, plan and direct location video shoots (including green screen), and gracefully address on-set client requests. Conduct effective interviews with an equal focus on drawing out technical details, brand strategy, and drawing out a compelling story. Create storylines and scripts. Oversee all phases of post-production, from rough edits to finished product, with an eye toward delivering on time and creating efficiencies. Build graphics to enhance videos when necessary.

Required background & skills:

Track record of success with documentary films, corporate videos, and/or video journalism within a deadline driven environment. Collaborative and detail-oriented approach and flawless project execution. Exceptional communication skills, quick comprehension of dense technical content, and familiarity with a wide-range of digital mediums. College degree or 5+ years experience in documentary, narrative, or corporate filmmaking, or business communications and advertising.

Candidates may be asked to complete a mock assignment as part of the interview process.

This is a full-time and on-site role. The Cinematographer/Editor will work out of Crystal Lake, IL. Cinematographer/Editors are asked to cover video in five major counties that include McHenry, Kane, Lake, Grundy and DeKalb as well as possible travel to other jobs sites in Illinois and Southern Iowa.
